Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2:41-42
Lancing Tab exists: to foster a joyful commitment to God, to build a community of authentic love to equip each person to play their part and to communicate our faith through word and action.
We all have a part to play - in the church we all have something we need and we all have something that we can give.
Affirming
The early church accepted his message – they devoted themselves to the Apostles teaching.
When a person becomes a church member they receive a church handbook that includes a statement of belief. Each year at out Church AGM we read that statement our loud – to declare that we believe it.
Belonging
Some people want to Believe without belonging. A personal, individual response to the gospel is linked with an attachment to fellow believers.
Committing
We live in an age when people are becoming reluctant to be involved – ‘I don’t want any more commitments!’ Yet being committed is the natural extension of the phrase:
`They devoted themselves to…Fellowship.'
Fellowship is having something in common – we have the same God, we share the same spiritual life and destiny. We are involved in each other’s lives.
